Our Approach
Clearly, our approach
will be directed (and adapted) to ensure that any particular needs
and priorities of a client project are met; however, there are principles
and practices that will be common to all projects. We are committed
to providing clear deliverables, with acknowledged value, at specified
times and on agreed terms. Even the briefest assignment requires clarity
and control and our procedures reflect this discipline whilst avoiding
an excessive administrative burden.
A typical metadirectory deployment will have some or all of the following
elements:
A Proposal Phase
In this non-chargeable phase, we will record client requirements,
agreed assumptions and our proposed method.
Deliverables: A Proposal that will include an informed estimate
of the effort and timescale required.
A Project Initiation Phase
We will identify all interested parties and agree an appropriate means
of communication. We will make an initial assessment of the data held
in the connected systems and prepare and communicate a detailed project
plan.
Deliverables: Project plan
Confirmed
estimates
An Analysis and Design Phase
We will analyse the data repositories to be connected, determine the
relationships between the data objects and identify the authoritative
source for each data attribute to be synchronised. We will then define
and document the data definitions, object joining rules, attribute
flows and the operational implications.
Deliverables: A Metadirectory Design Document
A Build and Test Phase
We will set up a full test system in our own environment in which we
will configure and test the management agents for each connected
system, both individually and in combination.
Deliverables: Tested Management Agents
A User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Phase
We will assist the customer in the installation and configuration of
MIIS 2003 in his own test environment and support the testing of the
full metadirectory solution. Ideally, and whenever practical, this
test environment should contain copies of live data. We will log and
resolve any errors found.
Deliverables: Tested Metadirectory Service
An Implementation Phase
We will prepare an implementation plan and will then assist in the set up of the production environment, test
connectivity to each of the connected systems and install the tested
management agents. We will assist in data cleansing, as necessary,
until any anomalies have been satisfactorily resolved. We will assist
in the initial running and scheduling of the live service to import,
join and update data in the connected systems. We will work with the
customer's own technicians to effect thorough and practical Knowledge
Transfer.
Deliverables: Implementation Plan
Live Metadirectory Service
A Post-Implementation Support Phase
We will review the results of the operational runs daily for an agreed
period and resolve any problems that arise.
