A metadirectory is a centralised service that joins and rationalises identity data from the multiple databases and directories in an organisation. Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS) 2003 (now wrapped within Microsoft’s Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007) is the name for Microsoft’s enhanced metadirectory product, previously known as MMS.
